Downer Rail & Transit Systems has exciting opportunities for women to join our team in VIC as part of our flagship Women on Track traineeship program.  Based at our Pakenham East Depot, this 12 month program combines structured learning with paid on-the-job experience by having a key role in the High Capacity Metro Trains (HCMT) Project.  This program is a partnership with the Doveton Hallam Community Learning Network

  • Enthusiastic and strong work ethic
  • Eager to learn and tackle new challenges
  • Achieved a minimum year 10 level of Maths proficiency
  • Willing to undertake 38 hours per week, combining work and structured training
  • A strong interest in working in a modern, cutting-edge workplace.
  • Current Open Driver’s licence, desirable



  • The opportunity to work on a key rolling stock project with an industry leader and gain valuable experience
  • 12-month traineeship program combining tailored and paid learning.  Training will be delivered at Hallam and Pakenham
  • The support of a dedicated workplace mentor and buddy
  • A 5-week bridging program focused on literacy, numeracy and computer skills
  • Opportunity to complete a Certificate II in Electrotechnology
  • Opportunity to continue with an apprenticeship at Downer at the end of the program.
