Wilson Botanic Park Berwick transformed from a Basalt Quarry to the truly unique 100-acre botanical gardens that it is known as today. Often referred to as the “Jewel in the Suburbs” or the “Hidden Gem” the park offers visitors a myriad of options to enjoy active living, explore open space and nature, experience the environment, education, and culture, celebrate special moments and events and connect with their community.

About the role

This role sits in the Wilson Botanic Park Berwick team as part of the Community Life division which strives to develop healthy, active, connected, and safe communities through the delivery of community facilities, events, experiences, and life cycle services from birth to older age.

We are located within Botanic Park located in the South Eastern Suburbs and are looking for casual staff. With multiple events and programs throughout the year as well as weekend operational support opportunities, we are currently building a team of people to call upon during our busy times.

These roles will provide weekend supervision to facilitate Wilson Botanic Park’s operational and functional requirements as well as support permanent staff with events, bookings, and admin during seasonal peaks. 

In this role you will:

  • Manage a diverse range of visitor enquiries, ensuring specialised information and resources are readily available to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the booking process for private and public event organisers and hirers at Wilson Botanic Park Berwick.
  • Conduct guided tour (either through a bus tour or walking tour) of the park
  • Facilitate Education Program during School Holiday periods
  • Maintain the cleanliness, upkeep and maintenance of the Visitor Centre and hirable spaces.
  • Assist with the preparation and development of promotional materials, articles, presentations, correspondence, and reports.
  • Assist in the planning, delivery and evaluation of activities, community programs, education programs, weddings, and events at Wilson Botanic Park Berwick.
  • Draw on a range of information sources, experiences, and benchmarking to identify new ways of working and continuous process improvement.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Relevant experience and work skills commensurate with the requirements of the position.
  • Understanding of working in an agile and collaborative working environment
