Selandra Community Hub is a vibrant community hub creating a welcoming, engaging facility that allows people to connect, belong, learn, and play. Due to the nature of the role you may be required to be based at other locations and/or to travel to other locations from time to time.

About the role

This role sits in the Community Facility Management team as part of the Community Life division which strives to develop healthy, active, connected, and safe communities through the delivery of community facilities, events, experiences, and life cycle services from birth to older age.

The Community Facility Engagement Officer role aims to support in the operation and activation of relevant community facilities particularly in Clyde North and surrounding areas. To support initiatives such as activations of new Community centres. 

In this role you will:

  • Develop, plan, and implement appropriate programs, activities, and events at the community centre, in response to the identified needs, service gaps and community strengths.
  • Apply a broad range of community engagement processes with an emphasis on hard to engage/disengaged residents to strengthen community participation.
  • Develop partnerships with a variety of community groups, service organisations, Council staff and other local agencies to enhance opportunities for community participation.
  • Work in partnership with the local community to facilitate local participation and access to facilities and services.
  • Utilise digital resources to connect and engage with community that may not be able to access physical spaces.
  • Maintain information and data to support preparation of funding submissions, reports and other material as required.
  • Identify, recruit and support community volunteers

About you

  • Possess Tertiary qualification in community development, social science, community services or other related fields and supported experience within a community setting
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing social media and digital platforms
  • Demonstrated experience working in diverse and dynamic organisations
  • Demonstrated experience within project experience within the Community Development sector
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain successful stakeholder relationships
  • Desirable IAP2 training
  • Willing to undergo a National Criminal History Check and a Functional Assessment (Physio/Medical Examination)
  • Possess a valid Working with Children Check
  • Possess a valid Victorian Driver’s licence
