About the role

This role sits in the Events team as part of the Community Life division which strives to develop healthy, active, connected and safe communities through the delivery of community facilities, events, experiences and life cycle services from birth to older age.

The Events officer contributes to the planning and implementation of major Council events, providing compliance advice and assistance for community groups and organisations running events and activities within the City of Casey.

In this role you will

  • Implement and evaluate the logistical aspects of a range of Council initiated events.
  • Ensure appropriate risk management strategies, operations plans, procedures and emergency plans are in place for planned Council events and activities.
  • Assist community and internal event organisers to complete the requirements in the Event Approval Application process to ensure a safe and successful event and have all necessary Council permits.
  • Influence events, promote ideas and keep abreast of new ideas, thinking and products.
  • Ensure project objectives are met by anticipating and managing potential and emerging issues.
  • Support the activation of an Emergency Relief Centre in the case of a declared emergency within the City of Casey or a neighbouring Council under the direction of the Emergency Relief Centre Co-ordinator

About you

  • Completion of secondary education plus a degree, or lesser qualifications with relevant work skills
  • Proven experience of planning and delivering events
  • Ability to analyse issues from different perspectives, draw conclusions from the information available and identify and propose practical solutions to problems.
  • Ability to adapt behaviour to new situations, be resilient and maintain stable performance when under pressure or opposition.
  • Proven experience to establish and maintain relationships with people at all levels, listen to others, confirm understanding and recognise the importance of seeing things from others’ point of view.
