About the role

This position is within the City Presentation department. City Presentation maintains and renews all of Casey’s assets including buildings and facilities, civil infrastructure, parks and the open space network. This role sits in the Open Space Presentation team responsible for the management of Council’s 2,500 (1800 Ha) park network.

The purpose of this position is to provide a high level of horticulture advice, support and customer service by contributing to the delivery of service levels that maintain and enhance the City of Casey’s current and future horticultural assets.

 In this role you will 

  • Supervise and program both the Horticulture team and contractors to achieve high-quality horticultural and amenity outcomes in work relating to assets within the roles responsibility.
  • Provide advice and support to the Coordinator Botanic and Urban Horticulture on horticultural maintenance and improvements, contractor compliance, OH&S and contractor performance issues.
  • Organise, supervise and perform general maintenance work including mowing, weeding, planting, pruning, construction, spraying, lawn edging, and watering.
  • Provide advice and support to the Coordinator Botanic and Urban Horticulture on the development of the annual works program, reports and documentation of works undertaken.
  • Ensure the timely and safe implementation of established policies, procedures, work instructions and strategies.

 About you  

  • Tertiary qualification of AQF level 4 or above in Parks and Gardens Horticulture or related discipline, or relevant experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working in the horticultural maintenance of Premier Public Spaces, including use of a broad range of plant and equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate staff, plan and prioritise the teams work programs
  • Passion for creating and maintaining great public open spaces and places
  • Functional Assessment (Physio/Medical Examination)
  • National Criminal History Check & Working with Children Check
